Biodiversity of floodplain river ecosystems: ecotones and connectivity1

A high level of spatio‐temporal heterogeneousness makes riverine floodplains among the foremost species‐rich environments known . stream dynamics from flooding play a serious role in maintaining a diversity of lentic, lotic and semi‐aquatic home ground varieties, every delineated  by a diversity of successional stages. Ecotones (transition zones between adjacent patches) and property (the strength of interactions across ecotones) area unit structural and useful parts that result from and contribute to the spatio‐temporal dynamics of riverine ecosystems. In plain rivers, ecotones and their connected patches area unit clothed  in hierarchic series across a variety of scales. Wood properties of Carapa guianensis from floodplain and upland forests in Eastern Amazonia, Brazil

Carapa guianensis (Andiroba) happens in upland and plain forests, and also the wood and oil of its seeds have multiple uses. The aim of this study was to judge the wood properties of C. guianensis trees in upland and body of water plain forests of the Amazon. Eight trees were designated, with four being from the upland and 4 from the plain forests. The fiber length, fiber wall thickness, vessel diameter and frequency, microfibril angle, relative density and wood shrinkage were evaluated. The juvenile and mature wood zones were determined in step with these variables. [4]

Changes of Soil Fertility Status in Some Soil Series of Tista Floodplain Soils of Bangladesh, during 1996-2016

The study of many soil series of Tista field soils were administered to search out the dynamical trend of nutrients standing from 1996 to 2016. The studied values of various soil quality variables were modified likewise pH five.87 ± 0.47 to 5.95 ± 0.33, organic matter one.37 ± 0.31% to 1.47 ± 0.41%, ,total N zero.49 ± 0.13 cmol/kg to zero.64 ± 0.07 cmol/kg , chemical element zero.10 ± 0.04 cmol/kg to three.19 ± 0.34 cmol/kg, K zero.31 ± 0.29 cmol/kg to two.93 ± 0.26 cmol/kg, sulfur 0.19 ± 0.05 cmol/kg to eight.66 ± 2.74 cmol/kg, iron 1.09 ± 0.46 cmol/kg to two.07 ± 0.99 cmol/kg, metal zero.10 ± 0.02 cmol/kg to zero.31 ± 0.30 cmol/kg, copper 0.03± 0.01 cmol/kg to zero.02 ± 0.01 cmol/kg, zinc 0.01 ± 4.8E-20 cmol/kg to zero.01 ± 0.01 cmol/kg in 1996 and 2016 severally. most variables modified over considerably at five-hitter (P < zero.05) level except pH, organic matter, total N and Copper content whose weren’t important at five-hitter (P < zero.05) level not even 100% (P < zero.10) level. The increasing trends of total N, chemical element, and Iron were completely correlative from 1996 to 2016 than different variables. The copper and metallic element content didn’t showing any effective amendment over these twenty years. the general nutrients were adequate except organic matter and total N content. But, the trends had positive direction of all nutrients thanks to application of organic and inorganic fertiliser that may be correlative with increasing concern concerning nutrients management thought among the farmer.
